When a new foundation comes out there’s always a lot of hype that builds it up as the next biggest, life changing formula there is. Magical properties and exquisite transformations are promised by new scientific discoveries on how to make your makeup not look like makeup. Innovative ingredients promise to make your skin look flawless and provide additional beauty benefits as well. But do they really work? Are they worth the hype?
Tarte Double Duty Beauty Empowered Hybrid Gel Foundation
If you are anything like me and have dry (reluctantly ageing) skin, the new Tarte Double Duty Empowered Hybrid Gel Foundation might have caught your eye. Aside from the unnecessary long name, this foundation claims to have some magnificent benefits. As listed on the Ulta website:
“Smooth skin is in with this radiant, full coverage foundation with skin-loving ingredients wrapped in a luxurious, creamy gel. The unique oil-free blend of smoothing, plumping and pore refining ingredients help brighten skin while moisturizing and blurring the look of fine lines and pores. The cooling, hypoallergenic gel feels like a drink of water for your skin, while masking any redness, dark spots, acne and uneven skin tone for 12-hour wear across skin types. It’s available in a range of shades to match any skin tone with a soft, rose scent and natural, radiant finish.
Formulated without parabens, mineral oil, phthalates, sodium lauryl sulfate, triclosan, and gluten.”
Sounds pretty amazing to me… Now here are some of the benefits/features taken from the Ulta website:
- Biopolymer filling spheres: Expanding spheres help smooth surface imperfections while promoting water retention and hydration
- Hyaluronic acid: Naturally-occurring ingredient in the human body which delivers moisture, firmness and suppleness
- Barley extract: Helps restore the lipid barrier to smooth over fine lines and wrinkles
- Vitamin C: Antioxidant free radical fighter that helps prevent premature signs of aging and brightens skin
Seriously wow Tarte! All these exciting ingredients claim to do amazing things. But does Tarte deliver on its promises? I will be sharing my experience with this new foundation on Friday (I know.. long wait, but I’ve been on vacation!) So stay tuned! You can find the actual product here on Ulta’s website.
Looking forwards to sharing my review with you all! Has anyone else tried this new Empowered Hybrid Gel Foundation or any other product from their new Double Duty Beauty line? XOXO

I have not tried that yet! I have dry skin so I always thought that would be too heavy for me for some reason.. even though I’ve never actually tried it haha. I guess I just thought from the name it would be thick! How does it feel for you?
